Community Traffic Alert for October 1st: Most of the main streets within East Beach will be closed on Saturday, October 1st to facilitate the St Mary’s 5K and 1K Runs. The run flyer states that the streets will be closed starting at 6 AM Saturday morning and stay closed until the run activities are complete. The proposed street closures include Pleasant Ave and 30th Bay, which basically blocks BBP. Discussions with City of Norfolk Police resulted in the following traffic work- arounds for our community: departing vehicle traffic should use Pleasant Ave to 29th Bay then 29th Bay to Pretty Lake Ave then Pretty Lake Ave to Shore Dr and arriving vehicle traffic should use Pretty Lake Ave to 29th Bay then 29th Bay to Pleasant Ave then Pleasant Ave to BBP. Plan on using these procedures all morning and expect minor delays between the hours of 8:45 am until about 9:45 am when crossing 30th Bay and Pretty Lake Ave (Norfolk Police will be controlling traffic at the intersections of Pleasant Ave/ 30th Bay and 29th Bay/Pretty Lake Ave) .
