Traffic alert — portions of Pleasant Ave will be closed on July 4th. More specifically, the area impacted will be Pleasant Ave between 27th Bay St and 23rd Bay St from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. This closure is due to an approved East Beach 4th of July Parade. Suggest you use 30th Bay St and 29th Bay St to enter and depart BBP. Happy 4th.

If you have a few hours to spare, share them with your neighbors and help cleanup the bay on June 1st — then, put July 20th on your calendar to join your neighbors in cleaning up East Ocean View. More specific information on the July 20th cleanup and related activities will be forthcoming, but for planning purposes the actual cleanup portion will occur in the morning (9-12) followed by a free lunch for all volunteers and friends, etc.
East Beach is planning to begin infrastructure work on the empty lot between 26th and 27th Bay Street at Pretty Lake Avenue on Friday, May 31, 2013? They anticipate this work will take approximately 60 days to complete. For the next few weeks, work will be localized to the site. If needed, notices will be sent out at least a week in advance of any road closures or adverse impacts to traffic on 26th, 27th and Pretty Lake Avenue. Please direct any concerns or issues you encounter to East Beach’s Director of Development — Jim Boohaker.

Norfolk Police have provided us several handouts that focus on crime prevention. These handouts are: 1) Prevent Car Break Ins; 2) Vacation Tips; and 3) Family Vacations. These documents will also be placed in the “Crime Prevention Tips sub folder of the “Neighborhood Watch” folder of this website. Please remember that unattended property tends to grow legs and walk off — don’t give potential criminals an easy opportunity to walk away with some of your property.
It’s time to clean out those closets and garages and share the items you no longer need with others who need them whether via donations or selling of items. If you are thinking about selling unneeded items, consider joining with your Bay Breeze Point neighbors in a community-wide yard sale on May 25th. Vern & Margaret Aunchman have volunteered to be the point persons for this community-wide event. They have provided: 1) information on the planned community-wide yard sale (Yard Sale Information); and 2) a PDF version of the required Norfolk yard sale permit application (Yard Sale Application) that you will need to print and fill out if you want to join your neighbors in this community-wide yard sale. Contact Vern or Margaret at vernmarg@aol.com or 362-0486 for further information.
