“TRAFFIC ALERT” — Temporary closure of Pretty Lake Ave

Beginning on Monday,January 14, 2013, there will be utility work done on the empty lot on the corner of 25th Bay Street and Pretty Lake Avenue. In order to complete the utility work, either a portion of 25th Bay OR a portion of Pretty Lake Avenue will have to be shut down. At no time will both 25th and Pretty Lake be shut down. At all times, there will be detour signs to help guide traffic. This work is expected to take approximately 10 days. I have attached a map to better illustrate the areas involved. Again, at no time will both streets be closed at the same time.

After the utility work is completed, there will be grading work done on the lot. This will be exacting work in an attempt to save some of the trees that are currently on the lot. It is expected that there will also be some retention walls built. This may also impact thru traffic on either 25th Bay, Pretty Lake Ave and/or associated sidewalks. This grading work and the various components could take upwards to a month to complete.

In both cases, the autos were left unsecured. Please pass the word to secure your vehicles and keep any valuables left in your vehicles out of sight. Norfolk transfers recycling collection to the private sector.

The City of Norfolk has transferred recyclables collection responsibilities to a private company (TFC Recycling). Basically, nothing changes except who picks up your recycling, i.e., 1) pickup days remain the same; and 2)use the same containers, except that TFC will add its name and other items to the container. However, there’s one plus, TFC will be offering awards to those customers that register with them @ www.recyclingperks.com. See the attachment for more details.
