This updated listing of City of Norfolk beach rules should be useful, especially the section identifying pets rules (Sec 25.2-32 Domestic Animals Generally).
Updated Norfolk Police Beach Patrol Unit rules handout is attached.
Lost Dog: Good evening neighbors, Tonight my note is of a personal nature…with the storm this afternoon, our dog Chessie ran out of the yard and hasn’t returned home yet. She does like to “visit the neighbors” but usually she only strays away for a brief time (30 minutes max). Storms scare her to death, and I can’t imagine where she might be at this point. We are now approaching seven hours and she hasn’t returned home. If there is any way to pass this along to the larger neighborhood email listing, Eric and the children and I would greatly appreciate it. Chessie, is an all white, short-haired mixed breed, about 45 pounds. If she is wet, she might appear to have some faint black spots. She also has one eye that is circled by a little bit of pink. Thanks so much! Maryann Casey, Ocean Way, 362-3530.
Lost Cat: The Musselman cat is also missing which is next door to the Casey..The cat is a small gray like tiger cat. 362-3563.
If you have seen either of these lost pets, please contact the Casey’s 362-3530 for the dog and the Musselmen’s 362-3563 for the cat.
Have You Lost A Pet Parrot? A pet parrot showed up at the East Beach Montessori school today. He was very friendly, and the school staff believes that he must belong to someone in the neighborhood. The parrot is currently in the custody of Norfolk Animal Control if the owner would like to claim him.
The East Ocean View community is having a “Spring Clean Up Event” Saturday, April 30th, 9AM-5PM. Dumpsters will be placed at strategic locations throughout EOV. For East Beach, Bay Point and Bay Breeze, the dumpster will be placed at the corner of Pretty Lake Ave and 27th Bay St. This is a great opportunity to get rid of stuff and … it’s FREE!!!!
If you see litter along the way, pick it up and throw it in the dumpster. If you would like to volunteer to clean up the neighborhood, we will gather at 9AM at the corner of Pleasant Ave & 20th Bay Street (see attachment for more information).
As the weather becomes warmer, so does the urge to have garage or yard sales. As the wise philosopher once said … “One person’s junk is another person’s treasure”. Commissioner of Revenue Sharon McDonald has some friendly suggestions and reminders:
